Many of you may have heard about our work with the North County-based non-profit Teri. For over 30 years, this organization has been providing a wide range of services to San Diego families and individuals with developmental and learning disabilities. Recently, guided by Chef and Culinary Consultant Jana McMahon, Teri has been changing their menus. In an effort to feature more local, organically grown produce, Teri called us to help them turn their lawns into productive edible and eco-friendly gardens.
Last winter we began our first collaborative effort by developing the Marshal House Edible and Therapeutic Garden. Now we are taking the next step with the creation of a 3,500 sq ft urban farm and a 50 tree fruit orchard! The food grown here will help to provide Teri’s client’s and staff with healthy, sustainable, and delicious produce. Let’s hear it for Teri, as they set the standard for sustainability in their field!
